Special Education for Kolkata’s Prodigious Minds
The Jagadis Bose National Talent Search Institute is going to set up special schools for the prodigious minds of Kolkata. The institute will search for all those extra ordinary students who can achieve miracles if nurtured properly. These students who excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics will be identified and they will receive special education to carry out research in future.
This autonomous institute has already created a research centre which will frame the guidelines on the basis of which, these gifted minds will be identified and separated from the rest. They will carry out through research in order to set the most appropriate syllabus for these prodigies. Further, the centre will come up with ideas regarding the proper training of the teachers and finally the construction of the special schools. These schools will be similar to the magnet schools of USA and the supernormal schools of China which also train talented minds.
All these developments will take place only after the first international conference on educating gifted minds. About two dozen of national and international experts will be discussing for more than five days in New Delhi and Kolkata from 4th to 11th February to come up with plans and ideas regarding the successful nurturing of talented students in the Indian context. The CEO of Chatterjee group as well as the Chairman of JBNSTC, Mr. Purnendu Chatterjee is keen to create the atmosphere suitable for the proper development of the abundant talent in India as soon as possible. In order to achieve this end, he is not going to keep a single stone unturned and has plans for collaborations with the leading educationists of India and abroad. In the initial stages about 10 students will be selected for starting the experiment. These students will be studying according to the special syllabus apart from their general school syllabus. The institute hopes that this will lead to the creation of the proper academic atmosphere like the magnet schools in India very soon.
