New Town Eco Tourism Park Soon to Have A Bird Sanctuary

A bird habitat will be created within the New Town Eco Tourism Park very soon. The Eco Park has a huge water body which attracts large number of bird species. When this 480 acre park was not set up, even more birds used to gather in this area. But now, the New Town Kolkata Development Authority along with the state forest department has decided to set up a bird sanctuary within the park to bring these migrating birds back. A bird interpretation centre is also being planned for. The large numbers of bird enthusiasts within the state in this way will be getting a rare glimpse of various exotic birds within the park. Various contests will be organised to attract the bird lovers and make them even more enthusiastic. In this way, with the active participation of the bird enthusiasts of this state, the developmental project will become a success.

The bird species which are found in the park at present are being noted. Several bird homes will be created at suitable spots which will be called Pakhiralayas. An observatory has been built where one can also find detailed information about the bird species. Several gardens have been created beside the water body of the park which are giving positive results by attracting large number of migratory bird species. According to the authorities, there are several such spots within the state where birds flock around in large numbers and can be considered as potential spots for bird sanctuary. Plans are also being made for the conservation of these spots and exploitation of their full potential in the near future.
